Last November, the official kick-off of Wind4Fryslân took place at Nauta Heeg. At the event, attended by entrepreneurs, partners and stakeholder organisations, Deputy Friso Douwstra unveiled the first large steel wind wing ‘Grutte Pier’. This impressive 30-metre structure is part of Econowind’s VentoFoil system, which uses wind propulsion technology on ships to reduce fuel consumption by harnessing wind power more effectively.
At Nauta Heeg, we are developing the first prototype of the steel wind wing for Econowind in collaboration with Frisian maritime partners. With this project, we are actively contributing to technological innovation in the maritime sector. We look forward to the next test phase and are proud to be working with Econowind on the decarbonisation of international shipping.
